NCDC211: EFNEP Related Research and Outreach

Statement of Issues and Justification

This development committee will address research questions associated with the successful Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). There is a need for the Extension and research communities to work together to plan a strong project that might include physiological/biochemical and psychosocial parameters to validate EFNEP's dietary outcome measures; Multistate cost/benefit analyses to demonstrate economic rationale for investment; longitudinal studies to demonstrate impact etc. Clearly, this would be an integrated, multidisciplinary project that would foster the development of a network of researchers and educators that could be very successful in seeking competitive funding.
