- Our 2006 NC1003 symposium and meeting will be at the Clarion Ocean Front Resort, Jekyll Island, Georgia, March 24-25. The Symposium will start about 8AM on March 24 and run to noon on March 25th. There will also be a short business meeting on the 25th. Hotel space has been reserved for March 23-26th, and please make you room reservations soon. Note that it is most likely easiest to fly to Jacksonville, FL, and drive about 50 minutes to Jekyll Island.

- The annual meeting/conference of NC-1003 will be March 10-12, 2005 in Washington DC. During This two-day conference we will present and discuss methods and current issues in the Economics of Agricultural Technology Regulation, with an emphasis on drawing together the collective state of wisdom on forces shaping technology regulation in agriculture (e.g., biotechnology, commercial pesticides, food and feed additives, international trade) and the consequences for the competitiveness of U.S. agriculture and the food system. Key findings and selected papers from the Conference will be published in an edited book, The Economics of Agricultural Technology Regulation.
The meeting will begin at 12:00 Noon on March 10 and end at 4:00 p.m. on March 12. The conference will be held at the Comfort Inn Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia just across the Potomac from the nation's capital. Group rates for lodging at the Comfort Inn Pentagon are $129 single, $149 double, and $189 quad. Space is limited. Please make reservations before February 10, 2005 by calling 703-682-5500. - The symposium will focus on research impact analyses and decision strategies related to biotechnology. There will be paper sessions on Friday morning and early Friday afternoon as well as on Saturday morning. Mid-Friday afternoon there will be tours of the biotechnology facilities at the Danforth Center and at Monsanto, which is nearby. The NC-1003 business meeting will be held in the early afternoon on Saturday and the meeting will adjourn by mid afternoon. The planning committee of George Norton, Greg Traxler, Chuck Moss will be assisted by Lawrence Kent (Danforth) and Yin Xia (Missouri).
