There are two levels of registration. For those attending the meeting the registration fee of $125 includes lunch on Thursday and a light breakfast on Friday. For those going on the tour an additional $50 fee is needed to cover the cost of the bus and lunch on Wednesday. NOTE: You must sign up for the tour prior to Jan. 1 because NASA needs a list of participants at least one week prior to our arrival. Therefore, we cannot accommodate late registrations for the tour. The total registration fee for both the tour and the meeting is $175. Hotel Reservations We will be meeting at the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel and Waterfront Conference Center, 425 Water Street, Portsmouth, VA 23704. The phone number is 1-757-673-3000 or you can make hotel reservations online at the meeting registration site or you can go directly to: http://cwp.marriott.com/orfpt/ncrea A block of rooms has been held at a rate of $89 per night before taxes. This rate has been extended to cover the period from Jan 5th through 11th. Travel There are two airports available in the Hampton Roads area. The closest is the Norfolk International Airport which is served by most major airlines. The smaller airport is the Newport News-Williamsburg Airport with service from Delta, US Airways, and United. You will need to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel. The last information on taxi fees was that a one-way fare from Norfolk International was $25. However, this is subject to change due to changing energy costs. State Reports State reports should be prepared and submitted prior to the meeting. I would like to make a booklet for each participant of the state reports so that interesting work can be discussed at the Jan meeting. To do this I need your report to be sent to me at Ron_Heiniger@ncsu.edu prior to Dec. 25th. I would really appreciate your cooperation in this.

- Dear NCERA180 Members:
We are hosting the NCERA180 meeting from January 4-6, 2007. Please see especially item #6. We are quite firm on the following details, although it is not absolutely determined yet:
1. Venue: The meeting will be held at the Citrus Research and Education Center in Lake Alfred, Florida (http://www.crec.ifas.ufl.edu/) in the Ben Hill Griffin, Jr. Citrus Hall. With 250 employees, CREC is also home to the scientific research staff of the Florida Department of Citrus (FDOC). Facilities also include over 225 acres of groves, greenhouses, a fresh fruit packinghouse, a juice processing pilot plant and over 40 laboratories. In 1982, financial contributions from the citrus industry made possible the construction of Ben Hill Griffin, Jr. Citrus Hall, a conference facility that includes meeting rooms, a teaching laboratory, an electron microscopy facility and the largest citrus library in the world.
Lake Alfred is almost midway from Orlando to Tampa.
2. Hotel: We have a special rate at the Holiday Inn Maingate West just west of Disney World in Kissimmee. (Kissimmee is the "suburb" southwest of Orlando where Disney World actually is.) To make your reservation, call 407-396-1100 (or 800-365-6935) and use Booking Code: NCR01. Reservations must be made before 4 December. Note that you must notify them 72 hours in advance if you cancel or you will be charged for one night. This hotel is in an excellent location for your families to enjoy the theme parks and other attractions. Note that there are multiple Holiday Inn hotels, so you need this one at 7601 Black Lake Road. This is a mid-range hotel. You are of course free to find fancier ones or ones at different locations on your own.
3. Transportation: We will provide transportation between the Hotel and Lake Alfred. You may also find your own way. "University of Florida CREC" and "33850" zip should get you there using www.mapquest.com.
4. Dates: On Thursday 4 January we will have a bus tour. It should include some manual and machine citrus harvesting, some processing, and some warehousing. It is usually good weather and the beginning of the harvesting season. On Friday 5 January and the morning of Saturday 6 January (until noon) we will have our meeting.
5. Simultaneous Event: Reza Ehsani will likely be conducting an extension meeting which we have every couple of years for tree fruit growers on precision agriculture. We're expecting 60-80, mostly growers on Friday 5 January. Although we will be mainly separate, we probably will have a small part of the program together. This also allows us to get some economies of scale for attracting industrial participation and costs.
6. Program: Here we need your input. We, of course, will have such standards as society and agency updates, industry updates, and administrative details. While we have some good input from some of you, we would certainly like more ideas.
7. Meeting administration: This meeting is being co-organized by Daniel Lee (wslee@ufl.edu) and John Schueller (schuejk@ufl.edu) with frequent communication and joint decisionmaking. So send your comments or suggestions to either one. We are being greatly assisted by our colleagues in the UF-PARS group (http://pars.ifas.ufl.edu/) and the administration.
